This policy explains what personal data Posh Hobby collects when you visit posh-hobby.com, why we collect it, who else is involved, and what you can ask us to do about it. The short version: we collect very little, we never sell it, and you can read everything on this site without giving us any personal data at all.

Who we are

This website, https://posh-hobby.com, is run by:

Posh Hobby

Email: posh.hobby@posh-hobby.com

We are responsible for the processing described on this page. Questions about this policy, or requests about your data, can be sent to the email address above.

When you visit the site

Like every website, our server receives some technical information whenever a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the page and to keep the site secure and working. These server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period and are not used to identify you.

The site is hosted in Switzerland, so this data is stored in Switzerland.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect what you enter in the form — your name, email address and comment — together with your IP address, your browser details and the time you submitted it.

  • Your name and comment are published once approved. Your email address is never published or shared.
  • Every comment is reviewed by hand before it appears on the site.
  • We use your IP address and browser details to detect spam and abuse. To limit repeated attempts, we also keep a short-lived count of recent submissions, linked to a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your IP address. It expires after 10 minutes.
  • The round avatar next to each comment is generated on our own server from the first letter of the name. Your email address is not sent to Gravatar or any other service.
  • Comments are not sent to any outside spam-filtering service.

You can ask us at any time for a copy of your comments and the data stored with them, or to delete them.

Cookies and local storage

We keep cookies to a minimum. This is everything the site stores in your browser:

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the comment cookies only means typing your details again next time; blocking the analytics cookies has no effect on how the site works.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — which articles are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which devices they use — so we can improve what we publish. It records the pages you view, the site you arrived from, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and technical details about your device and browser, linked to a pseudonymous identifier stored in the _ga cookies.

Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, and data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Frameworks.

We use Google Analytics because we have a legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used. You can opt out at any time with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser. See also Google’s privacy policy.

Content loaded from other services

To display the site, your browser loads some files directly from other providers. When it does, that provider receives your IP address and browser details, as with any web request.

  • Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (Google).
  • Page styling and icons are loaded from jsDelivr, a public content delivery network.
  • Videos. On the home page, the preview image of the featured video is loaded from YouTube (Google). The video player itself only loads when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video plays, YouTube may set cookies and collect data under Google’s privacy policy.

The links to our YouTube and X channels are ordinary links. Nothing is shared with those services unless you click them.

If you email us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and keep the correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your request.

Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. It only reaches the providers named on this page:

  • Our hosting provider — website hosting (Switzerland)
  • Google — Google Analytics, Google Fonts and YouTube (European Union and United States)
  • jsDelivr — content delivery network (worldwide)

Some of these providers may process data outside Switzerland and the European Union, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

  • Comments, and the name, email, IP address and browser details stored with them: until you ask us to remove them, or until we delete the comment.
  • Spam-protection count: 10 minutes.
  • Server logs: a limited period set by our hosting provider.
  • Google Analytics data: 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically.
  • Emails: as long as needed to deal with your request.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • find out what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy of it
  • have incorrect data corrected
  • have your data deleted
  • object to how we use it, including Google Analytics (see the opt-out above)
  • receive the data you gave us in a portable format

To use any of these rights, email us at the address in “Who we are”. We will respond within 30 days.

If you believe we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at www.edoeb.admin.ch or, if you live in the European Union, to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page whenever the way we handle data changes — for example, when the shop opens. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
