What is a HOBBY?

What is a HOBBY?

hobby is a regular activity done primarily for enjoyment, relaxation or personal satisfaction during one’s leisure time, rather than for professional or financial purposes.

Key characteristics of a hobby:

•  It is pursued voluntarily and for pleasure, not obligation;

•  It typically occurs outside of work or essential responsibilities;

•  It often involves skill-building, creativity, collection, or immersion in a specific interest;

•  It does not need to produce income (though some hobbies can occasionally overlap with side income).

Brick collecting, organizing, cleaning and building are classic hobby activities:

•  Collecting brick sets or pieces is a widespread hobby, especially amongst all Adult Factions of BRICKS;

•  Organizing (sorting bricks by color, type or set) is a satisfying part of the hobby for many enthusiasts;

•  Cleaning and maintaining brick pieces preserves collections and is often enjoyed as a mindful, detail-oriented task;

•  Building (whether following official instructions, creating MOCs (My Own Creations) or modifying sets) is the core creative expression of the Lego hobby.

All of these brick-related activities fully qualify as a hobby because they are done for personal enjoyment and engagement with the medium, not as a job. Many people spend hours on these pursuits purely because they find them rewarding and fun (escape from unfair & corrupted reality).
